About Stephanie Obad Schmor

I’m at First Presbyterian because it seeks to embody what my hope is for the church, a place where people are deeply loved, awakened in healing, and empowered to enact the radical and active peace of Christ in our relationships, community, and world. I have worked in and experienced many iterations of church and I find myself at First Presbyterian because it desires to live the fullness of what I believe a community of faith should be: spacious yet connected, sacrificial and healthful, a place where Spirit livens us to grow and be whole.
Before working here I served as the Director of Social Services at St. Vincent de Paul of Bend helping to provide tangible services for those in need in the city of Bend: groceries, utility and prescription assistance, propane and clothing vouchers, and low income housing. I also got the chance to manage and learn from 60 some of the most selfless volunteers.
In my free time I love adventure! Wether its backpacking in and out of the Grand Canyon last year for my birthday, or exploring the many hiking and wilderness trails here in Central Oregon, to braving my fear of the cold and snow and snowshoeing in the mountains. I love the exploration of new and old places with my fellow adventurer and husband Mark. I also spend my free time, Face-Timing with friends, dreaming up art projects, looking at videos of cats, dogs, horses, and other cute animals, reading portions of many books, and binge watching TV shows. Huzzah!
