Leaving a Legacy of Love

What Is The Foundation?

Many members and friends of the First Presbyterian Church of Bend extend their financial support to the church’s missions through direct donations to the Foundation or as legacy gifts in their wills, trusts, and estate plans.

These donations, some of which are donor-directed, provide annual funds for ministry work not otherwise included in the church’s operating budget.

The Foundation is organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

Fund Management

Donations are managed by a Board of Directors, composed of church members confirmed by the Session, with focus on the sustainability, growth, and disbursement of funds. An independent investment company manages the Foundation’s portfolio.

Fund Uses

  • Children & Youth programs
  • Educational Support/Tuition Scholarships
  • Medical Missions such as health care for low-income children and youth
  • Church member-supported projects in Guatemala and Burundi, as well as other international work
  • In-church day care services/Affordable child-care

Ways to Give

Donations by check may be made at any time payable to the First Presbyterian Church of Bend Foundation.

Additional donation examples include:

  • Marketable securities
  • Retirement plan assets
  • Life insurance policies
  • Tangible personal property
  • Bank or investment accounts
  • Real estate

Donations of appreciated securities and donations directly from an IRA may offer the donor tax benefits over cash contributions while furthering the reach of the donor’s charitable gifting.

Listing the foundation as a beneficiary of retirement plans, trusts or wills may provide a legacy of love well into the future.
