There is so much sadness, pain and bewilderment in the world at this moment. I don’t know about you but I am starving for one good word. There are moments that we need to be reminded that this day matters and we matter to this day. There are moments when we are hungry for a blessing so that we can live as a blessing for others.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu offered this blessing to His Holiness The Dalai Lama. May it be bread for your hungry soul today:
“Dear child of God, you are loved with a love that nothing can shake, a love that loved you long before you were created, a love that will be there long after everything has disappeared. You are precious, with a preciousness that is totally quite immeasurable. And God wants you to be like God. Filled with life and goodness and laughter – and joy. God, who is forever pouring out God’s whole being from all eternity, wants you to flourish.”
Feed yourself on this blessing reading it slowly several times savoring every word. Imagine living this day gambling on the truth of these words even if you struggle to believe it. Trust me there is someone near you starving for one good word. It’s funny but you just might find yourself strangely full as you empty your own unshakeable goodness into another.
