The National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) began in New York in 1937. Since that time, it has been played all over the country. NMJL is a philanthropic organization. Playing cards are sold by individuals every year and proceeds benefit their non-profit. I have been playing and teaching for over 15 years. It’s a wonderful game of strategy along with luck, somewhat similar to the rummy card game.
If you’d like to learn, I will be teaching at First Presbyterian, 4 classes, Mondays, 2:00pm-4:00pm on these dates in 2026: January 12th; January 19th; February 2nd; February 9th.
I will provide the “hands” card for you to use during class. Please contact me at [email protected] to sign up. I will need your name, email, and phone number. I can teach 8 people (2 - tables of 4). This will be hands-on learning and play! I will keep a waitlist if there’s more interest.
