Spiritual Formation
Lenten Journey - Devotional
SPIRITUAL FORMATION
Spiritual growth is God’s call for the congregation as we journey as followers of Christ together. The Spiritual Formation Team meets regularly to pray and plan activities directly related to spiritual growth. The Team supports, encourages, and experiments with programs that provide opportunities for spiritual growth in a variety of ways. The Team seeks to support other ministry teams and to offer spiritual growth resources when requested. Each of the ministries listed below welcomes volunteers.
ADULT EDUCATION seeks ways to engage the congregation in study
and reflection in classes and groups. The Thoughtful Christian
resources, the Library, other resources, and experienced people
are available to contribute to the quality of adult education.
BIBLE STUDY groups are available during the week.
PRAYER
groups meet regularly during the week. Groups for intercessory
prayer for the church and centering prayer groups offer the
opportunity to cultivate one’s relationship with God
through prayer.
RETREATS are offered throughout the year, such as the
Women’s Retreat, a Circle of Trust retreat based on the
work of Parker Palmer, and a Taste of Silence retreat focused
on centering prayer.
SPECIAL PROJECTS such as the Art Exhibit and the Lenten
Devotional Booklet invite the congregation to share their own
spiritual journeys through visual and written reflections.
Future projects may expand the possibilities as the
congregation discovers and expresses spiritual gifts.
SPIRITUAL DIRECTION is available with trained spiritual
directors for individuals and groups.
